Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is known for his sharp-witted and sly parts in action films. Bruce Willis has been featured in over $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis, a West German-born actor, was born in Idar–Oberstein, West Germany on March 19 1955, to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey), who lived at a military base in the United States. His family emigrated to the U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was born in Penns Grove by his mother working at a bank, and his father, who was a welder who was a factory worker and welder. Willis was interested in drama during high school. When he worked at an New York City cafĂ©, his name was "discovered". Then, he began to appear in a handful of off-Broadway productions. One night, Willis worked as a bartender, and was spotted by a casting director who was impressed by his character. He needed an bartender for one small part in a film. Willis was involved in numerous auditions prior to being cast in the well-known romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His sarcastic humor and wittiness as a P.I. is one of the most memorable of his career. is considered by some to be a dry run for the character of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster hit Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis the character alone fought an uncompromising gang of international thieves inside the Los Angeles skyscraper. The actor reprised his role as McClane in the follow-up film, Die Hard 2 (1990) which was set in a snowbound Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of renegade Special Forces soldiers seek to get back an infamous South American general. The film's stellar box office results prompted another sequel to Die Hart with revenge (1995). This time Samuel L. Jackson starred as a shrewd Harlem shop owner who is unaware of his role and was forced to help McClane during a terror attack on a scorching New York City day.
