Rachel Anne McAdams

Rachel Anne McAdams was conceived on November 17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is a nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture mover. She is English--, Welsh-, Irish-, and Scottish. Rachel started acting as an adult. At 13 she was performing in Shakespearean productions at the summer theatre camps. After graduating, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in Theater. After her role in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998), she starred in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that chronicles the struggles and triumphs of a Shakespearean theatre group. In 2003, she received a Gemini award. Her role as Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004) instantly became a top-rated actress on Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. After that, she landed the role of a major character opposite Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) The Notebook was a surprising box office popularity and was the most watched romantic drama of a new, young generation of moviegoers. McAdams and Gosling became lovers during filming, and continued to stay in touch throughout 2007's middle. McAdams and Gosling were together and began to get married. Her roles as a star in the war drama The Lucky Ones (2007), the newspaper thriller State of Play (2009) as well as the romantic drama The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) was followed by her role alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the fiery producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's wife, a materialistic one in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to the world of romantic dramas in The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams appears in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) along with Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma's action thriller Passion (2012).
